CURRICULUM

Our Approach to Early Years Education

At our school, the early years are viewed as the foundation for the holistic development of children. Our approach combines the academic rigour of the Cambridge Early Years Curriculum with innovative methods that celebrate curiosity, play, creativity, and active exploration.

With a strong emphasis on artistic, sporting, social, and emotional skills, we create an environment where children are inspired to learn naturally, meaningfully, and joyfully.

Our Approach to Early Years Education

The Cambridge Early Years Curriculum

Our programme is based on the Cambridge Early Years Curriculum, a model that promotes balanced development across cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and artistic areas. This curriculum provides a solid foundation of essential skills and concepts, ensuring that children are prepared for the next steps in their academic and personal journeys.

Play-Based Learning

We believe that play is the most natural and effective way for children to learn. Activities are designed to be interactive and engaging, allowing children to explore concepts like mathematics, science, and language while they play, collaborate, and have fun.

A Sensory and Exploratory Approach

Our methodology integrates sensory learning, enabling children to use their senses to explore the world around them. Hands-on activities, such as mixing colours, feeling different textures, or experimenting with sounds and movements, help bridge abstract concepts with concrete experiences.

Artistic and Physical Competencies:
Creativity and Movement

In the early years, we consider art, music, and sport as essential components of holistic development. These areas enable children to express themselves, explore their creativity, and strengthen their physical abilities.

Art and Music

  • Through activities like painting, modelling, and musical exploration, children develop creative and sensory expression.

  • Projects such as “My Masterpiece” allow children to create works inspired by specific artists or themes.

  • Music is integrated throughout the week with dedicated lessons led by specialists, as well as daily activities including songs, rhythmic games, and simple instrument exploration.

Sport and Movement

  • Physical activities encourage motor development, coordination, and body awareness.

  • Group games and exercises build teamwork and resilience while fostering healthy habits.

Bilingual Education for Natural Learning

At our school, bilingual education is designed to foster the natural acquisition of a second language. We use a method that respects the natural learning process, introducing the language through interactive, engaging, and meaningful experiences.
Children learn the second language:

  • Through stories, songs, and role-playing.
  • During hands-on activities and collaborative projects.
  • Immersively, as if learning their native language.
  • This approach not only promotes linguistic fluency but also broadens cultural awareness and enhances global communication skills.

Social-Emotional Competencies: Growing Together

The development of social and emotional is central to our early years programme. We work with children to help them:

  • Recognise and express emotions: Through activities like the “Emotion Map” and guided storytelling, children learn to identify and communicate their feelings in a healthy way.

  • Build positive relationships: Group games and activities teach empathy, collaboration, and mutual respect.

  • Overcome challenges: Activities involving trial and error help children develop resilience and perseverance.
